Barkley Sound and the surrounding area offer some of the best Salmon, Halibut and Cod fishing on the West Coast. From your cabin at Salmon Beach you overlook a fisherman’s paradise and can be out on the water in minutes using the private boat ramp. Some owners prefer to keep their boats in the water and ready to go at the nearby full service Toquart Bay Marnia - located less than 15 minutes from Salmon Beach (www.toquartbay.com).
Just offshore is the hottest Chinook and Coho fishing grounds in the region and if the open Pacific Ocean becomes too rough, anglers can escape the weather and find numerous Chinook hideouts among the hundreds of tiny islands in protected Barkley Sound. Halibut fishing heats up in late May with excellent fishing both nearshore and offshore – you might even hit one by accident when trolling for Salmon. There is also great prawning, and crabbing nearby if that is more your style.
